MMBC Treks to Hartford for Two
01/25/04

On Saturday, January 24th, more than thirty Manchester Monarchs fans met up in Section 123 of the
Hartford Civic Center for the start of what was sure to be a fun-filled weekend.  When the Monarchs stepped
onto the ice cheers from the faithful Manchester fans erupted throughout the arena.  The Monarchs came
out with a spark, looking to avenge the 5-0 home loss to the Wolf*Pack from a few weeks earlier.

In the first period Yanick Lehoux and Pavel Rosa treated the sell out crowd at the Hartford Civic Center to
two Manchester goals.  Throughout the period chants of Lets Go Monarchs could be heard throughout the
arena.  When it was Mathieu Chouinard’s turn to defend the goal at the Section 123 end of the ice chants of
“Chewie, Chewie, Chewie” rang out.   The end result of the game was a 2-0 victory for Manchester, but for
many fans on the trip the fun was just beginning.

The Monarchs fans departed the Civic Center feeling proud.  Some fans went out on the town while many
returned to their host hotel, the Quality Inn in Vernon, and hit the bar there!  With a wedding reception also
going on the bar was pretty crowded but that didn’t stop most of the Monarchs’ fans.  Rumor has it a handful
of fans were at the bar until the 2 am closing and capped the evening in the bar with a rendition of “Welcome
to the Jungle” on karaoke.

On Sunday morning there were many tired Monarchs fans at breakfast at the Quality Inn.  There might have
been some tired fans but we were all gearing up for what we hoped to be another great game between the
Wolf*Pack and the Monarchs.  The “Hartford Jesters” treated us to a great lunch of sandwiches, chips,
homemade desserts and plenty of drinks.  Then off to the second game of the weekend series with Hartford,
also the final regular season match up between the Monarchs and Wolf*Pack.

Unfortunately on this Sunday afternoon it appeared the Monarchs fans were not the only ones that were
tired and feeling the effects of the night before, as the Monarchs didn’t come out with the same zip as they
did on Saturday night.  The Monarchs faithful were sent home with a 4-2 loss.  While many fans might have
been a little heavyhearted after the game everyone seemed to have a great time and thoroughly enjoy their
weekend in Hartford.
