Monarchs Blank Cats in Game Three on MMBC Playoff Trip
|

The Manchester Monarchs Booster Club went road trippin’ to
Worcester on April 18, 2004, to cheer the Monarchs to victory. No, it
was not a bus trip, due to the close proximity of the Icecats. People
were saying that they wanted to go, so we reserved a block of tickets
and everyone car pooled.
A few members decided to go to Applebee’s, in the Worcester
Commons Mall across the street, before the game. Others decided to
do the same thing. It ended up where 15-20 members converged at
Applebee’s.
While we were waiting for our food to come, someone saw three
Monarchs players coming toward the mall. They were Steve Kelly, Jeff
Giuliano and Maxim Kuznetsov. MMBC President Bill Walch invited the
players to join us in Applebee’s and told them that if they wanted a bite
to eat, it would be on the MMBC. They told us up on our offer and join
us.
The players, for the most part conversed with each other, although if
someone asked them something, they were nice enough to take the
time to answer it. Once the player’s food came, they were not
bothered, so they could enjoy their meals.
The Monarchs were down in the series 2-0, losing both games at the
Verizon Wireless Arena, so they needed to step up and win.
Fortunately, they did, the Monarchs ended up winning the game 3, 2-0.
One our way home, two vehicle loads of members stopped at Kimball’s
Ice Cream Stand in Ayer, MA. They had many flavors to choose from
and the ice cream was awesome. They had about ten service
windows, and each window had a line of about 15 people, but it was
worth the wait.
A game 6 side note: MMBC members went to meet the team when
they returned to Manchester after being eliminated from the playoffs.
As the players, coaches and other staff, we gave them a round of
applause, until the last one jumped off the bus. A few people including
Dane Jackson, and Pavel Rosa walked over and thanked us.
