Who Do We Help?
In the first five years since our inception, the Manchester Monarchs Booster Club has tried to help as many organizations that support
children as possible.

As a small non-profit organization ourselves, we "spread our funds" as wide as we can.

We have worked with or donated to the following non-profit organizations:

Monarchs Care Foundation
Families in Transition
NH Food Bank
Nashua Children's Home
New Hampshire Public Television
Salvation Army's Santa Fund
Operation Santa
Manchester Elks Lodge
Special Olympics

In 2008, we volunteered to work the Wild Rover's Halfway to St. Patrick's Day Road Race, benefiting the Manchester PAL.

Rival Booster Clubs Unite, Raise Funds for Nashua Charity
On May 19, 2008, the Manchester Monarchs Booster Club and the Lowell Devils Booster Club put their team loyalties aside, holding the
3rd Annual Trivia Challenge in Nashua, NH.  The Nashua Children’s Home, once again, were the recipients of the proceeds.

Participant registration was held from 6:00-6:30 PM.  After a short delay, the Challenge got started near 6:45 PM.  This year, there were
seven teams of 4-6 people participating.  For the third straight year, the LDBC had more teams participating in this event.  They brought
some heavy hitters with them…two of the Lowell teams were from the front office of the Lowell Devils Hockey Club, including Executive
Director, Chris Ciceri.

The Trivia Challenge is a competition consisting of three rounds; each round is a set of eight general questions.  At least two questions
in each round were hockey (NHL/AHL) related.

In the first round Bill Walch fired off the eight questions, pausing between each to give teams time to discuss possible answers, before
they write their final choice on the answer sheet.  At the end of round one, the M&M’s had garnered seven out of a possible eight points.
Three other teams ended the round with six points, two with five points and one with four.

In the second round, another eight questions.  All teams knew there were 41,760 minutes in the month of February, 2008 and that
Michael Keaton played Beetlejuice in the movie.  The most troubling questions in this round were “Who lead the Children of Israel into
the Promised land” and “Who won the Calder Cup for the 2002-2003 season”.  Holding the lead after two rounds, the M&M’s shot up to
13 points.  Three other teams were right behind them with 11 points, with the final three with ten, nine and seven.

In the third round, the final eight questions.  Apparently, the “easy” question of this round was “Who wrote the book Lord of the Rings”,
as all teams correctly answered the question.  The tough questions seemed to be “What year was the AHL established” and “What was
the original filling in Twinkies”.  The overall winners of the Challenge were the M&M’s, a team from Manchester consisting of Marlene
Lein, Steve Belforti and Mike & Laura Messer, thus pushing the MMBC to 3-0 vs. Lowell in the Trivia Challenge series.  The winners
received one free dessert each from Martha’s Exchange, 185 Main Street, Nashua, where this year’s event was held.

The final standings were:

18 - M&M’s (Manchester)
16 - Spanky’s Angels (Manchester)
14 - B’s in the Back of the Room (Lowell)
13 - Devil’s Aces (Lowell) & More Cowbell (Lowell)
12 - 6 D’s (Lowell)
08 - Knights Who Say Neat (Lowell)

Although only one team can win the Challenge, the real winners were the kids at the Nashua Children’s Home, as well as all the
participants of the Challenge.  It was a fun time by all, while raising…you ready?...$1005 for the Nashua Children’s Home.  Congrats to
everyone involved in this event.

Once the Challenge was over, we moved on to drawing door prizes.  After that we drew the winners of the many raffle items collected
by both clubs.  Thanks to 106.3 Frank FM (Nashua), the Lowell Devils Hockey Club, Nashua Pride Baseball, Applebee’s, Martha’s
Exchange, Pidcadilly’s Pub, Friendly’s, MMBC, LDBC, Tanya Marias, Joan Marias, Lee & Steve Doyle, Bill Walch, Tricia Indelicato &
Marcia Sicara for their donation of raffle items for this event.  Thanks to Linda Lavoie, Roger Carpenter and Bill Walch for their monetary
donations to this event.

A special thank you to some very hard working people who helped put this event together.  Victoria LaDuke, thank you for all the help
you gave as the MMBC worked to do its part in finding a location for the Challenge, as well as all the foot work you did in the downtown
area, with advertising and securing raffle items.  Joan Marias and the Doyle crew, without you folks, there would be no Trivia Challenge
to attend.  Your hard work and dedication to this event over the last three years has been endless and that is priceless.  You go well
beyond what is expected each year, and I thank you for that.

See you next year!!!
