What is a Hosting?
One of the purposes of being a booster club is to encourage and support good sportsmanship among all fans and players who attend Monarchs home games, as
well as away games.  The Manchester Monarchs Booster Club does this at all games, but when another teams booster club comes to town, they are welcomed with
food, fun and friendship.

When the MMBC finds out a fellow AHL Booster Club is coming to Manchester, we prepare to host them when they arrive.  Most of the time, we set up a buffet at an
area restaurant to fill the tummies of our visiting friends.  Along with that, we enjoy the company of people with the same interests as we do...hockey!  It is a lot of fun
to do, and most booster clubs do the same for us when we head to their town, as well, making a bus trip worth that much more.

MMBC Hosts Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Boosters
10/17/04

Opening weekend of the 2004-05 Monarchs season was a success on and off the
ice for the MMBC.  After watching their team skate to a 5-2 victory over the
Worcester IceCats on Friday night the Manchester Monarchs Booster Club
hosted the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Booster Club before the Penguins took to the
ice at the Verizon on Saturday.

Two buses of Penguins’ Boosters arrived at the Best Western Executive Court Inn
ready to stretch their legs after a long ride and enjoy a little something to eat.  We
all renewed old acquaintances while making some new ones as well.  The MMBC
was able to treat the sixty plus Wilkes-Barre/Scranton fans to some of the best
pizza around from Grand Slam Pizza and lots of homemade deserts courtesy of
MMBC member Katie Kemp.

The Penguin crowd boasted of the fact that they were perfect against that “New
Hampshire” team while we reminded them we now had one of their best players
from last season in Tom Kostopolous.  It was all in fun but we were certainly
hoping for the win that night!  MMBC member John Perry extended his lucky
streak from the night before and took home the 50-50 raffle.

Thank goodness once we arrived at the arena the Monarchs did all the talking
(and scoring) that was needed on the ice taking the Penguins down 7-3.  The
group that made the long trek up from Pennsylvania were a pleasure to host and
were even lighthearted after their second loss in as many games to open their
season.  Hopefully we will be seeing some of those familiar faces again in
December.
